| Chris Sinal is 23 years old and in the final year of a BA in History from Huron University College. He has extensive experience in student politics and leadership activities with the University Students' Council, the Huron University College Students' Council, and the University Senate. As the USC Head Soph in last September's Orientation Week, he and the USC Info Team spoke with first year students on the value of extracurricular involvement in order to make the most out of their university degrees. This is not a new belief for Chris; in fact, he's spoken publicly on the value of being involved outside of class in many venues including presentations to London and area high-school students, leadership conferences, and Orientation Week. "You can go through university, attend all of your classes, study hard (as you should), and then leave with your diploma and a toolbox filled with the skills you've learned in those classes that you can then use in the 'outside world'. Or, you can get involved outside of class. Get out there. Do something. Whether it's in a club, in residence, in a council, with a newspaper... anything. Meet people. Do something you've never done before. Then, when you leave university and head out into the world off-campus, you'll be walking out with something alot larger then a toolbox, you'll be leaving with a whole garden shed of experiences and skills that you only could have gained by getting involved. It's those things that make your degree from Western priceless"-Chris Sinal, as USC Vice President Student Affairs, Orientation Week 2000 Closing Ceremonies To read more about how Chris will apply these beliefs to the University Students' Council as President, please continue to the Platform. |
