Vice President Student Issues

Here's a little background about me. I'm from Sarnia. Wahoo! Telling that usually results in laughs or apologies, but I like Sarnia. There's not much to do there, but the beaches are great and trees are plentiful. It was a nice place to grow up. I went to St. Pat's High School. I came to Western because it was the only university I had seen before I applied. Now I'm in my fifth year, and I love it. I graduated last year with an honours BA in history and I'm back taking one course and doing this. Eventually - maybe next year - I'll go to law school somewhere.

Here's a little about the position. The Vice-president Student Issues is responsible for social and political issues on campus. Such issues include diversity, safety, employment, and academics, among others. The portfolio also includes external political issues that have direct bearing on academics; issues such as changes to university funding, and student loans. Eleven commissioners who report to the VP organize awareness weeks to provide information about these issues to members of the Western community.
