WIN (Women’s Issues Network) / I Know Someone

Tuesday January 17, 2012/Wednesday January 18, 2012
The Womens’ Issues Network is a service dedicated to recognizing, representing, and rectifying gender inequalities affecting Western Students. The I Know Someone service aims to increase awareness about the continuum of sexual violence on this campus. This workshop will discuss sexism at Western, womens’s issues on campus, and will discuss ways to foster a safe, inclusive environment when planning events and club functions.
     
 
PrideWestern and LGBT Workshop
Tuesday January 24, 2012/Wednesday January 25, 2012
PrideWestern is a service that aims to provide a resource and support system for
students involved in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, queer, 2-spirited, and asexual (LGBTTQ2A) community. This workshop will review topics and issues that are relevant to the LGBT community, and discuss ways to foster an inclusive environment when planning events and club functions.
     
 


Ally Training -
Tuesday, February 7,2012/ Wednesday, February 8, 2012
Ally Western is a program that works to make Western more inclusive through providing resources and support for those identifying as Allies to the LGBT Community. This training session will review topics such as inclusive language, hetero-normativity on campus, and LGTB issues. Once completed, you will receive an official Ally Certificate and pendant.
     
 

EthnoCultural Support Services and Diversity Training
Tuesday February 14, 2012/Wednesday February 15, 2012
ESS is a service created to facilitate student efforts to address issues related to culture or ethnicity that affect the Western community. This workshop will review topics such as diversity on campus, available resources, inclusivity advice, and EthnoCultural issues on campus.

     
 
EnviroWestern
Tuesday February 28, 2012/ Wednesday February 29, 2012
EnviroWestern is the student answer to environmental issues at Western, providing both action and advocacy for issues important to students, as well as numerous opportunities for students to get involved. This workshop will discuss green initiatives on campus, as well as how to help reduce the carbon footprint as a student group on campus.

This session will provide you with the resources and contact information you require for booking rooms on campus. You will be provided with information regarding the provision of food; where you are permitted to serve food and how to receive approval or doing so. Looking for information on the new Student Lounge in the UCC!?! Join us for our presentation on this great addition to available club space!

 
   

Successful Fundraising

This session will provide you with tips and suggestions for successful fundraising events - the pros and cons of executing a fundraiser vs. awareness event. You will learn about Ontario Fundraising laws on fundraising activities.

 
   

Advertising on Campus

This session will provide you with all of the necessary information and resources to successfully advertise your events on campus; poster policy, poster printing, banners, Social Medias, QR codes and more. USC Service information will be provided as well; InPrint, CHRW, Western Film, the Gazette, etc. Take full advantage of this advertising crash course!

    Risk Management
Tuesday November 29, 2011/Wednesday November 30, 2011
All clubs are insured by the USC and part of the responsibility we have to our clubs is to assess risk associated with each individual event. For information on liability, exposure and mitigation please join us for our information session on Risk Management. We will discuss topics such as security, monitors and we will review our ‘harm reduction checklist’.
