To get involved, look for our booth during clubs week for news on committees and executive positions. Otherwise, watch for advertisements about these campaigns and others throughout the year.
STAND Western is committed towards affecting more than simply awareness. The crisis and plight of the victims demands immediate and continuing action, and students at Western are ready to deliver it. We are always looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers for any of our three main initiatives:
1. Tutoring - STAND Western is proud to offer volunteer run, after-school tutoring programs for primary and secondary school students from Refugee and Newcomer communities in London. We’re always looking for reliable university, college, or high school students to volunteer with us throughout the school year.
2. Divestment - As part of a bigger international campaign, students on campus are pushing companies, anywhere from small financial planners to large multinational corporations, to end business ties which help support the Sudanese government.
3. Awareness, Advocacy, and Education- STAND Western sustains an ongoing educational awareness campaign, which consists of film screenings, fundraisers, high school & community presentations, literature distribution, magazine publications, and more. We have volunteer positions for a wide-range of interests. STAND Western is also an important contributor to national campaigns such as 1-800-GENOCIDE and STAND for the DEAD.
