WUSC on Campus

WUSC is unique among development organizations in our ability to link Canada's colleges and universities with our efforts to promote knowledge for a more equitable world. We are present on campuses across the country, linking postsecondary students, faculty and leaders through:
·more than 60 WUSC local committees active on Canadian campuses
· Student Refugee Program - supporting students fleeing war or persecution in developing countries to continue their studies in Canada
· Uniterra - mobilizing youth on university and college campuses to help achieve the Millennium Development Goals through education, advocacy, and volunteering.
· Overseas learning opportunities including an International Seminar and Students Without Borders™, an innovative program enabling students to apply their academic knowledge to a work environment in the developing world , and, in most cases, earn credits.
· Managing scholarships for students from the South enrolled at Canadian universities and colleges.

WUSC Around the World

WUSC's development projects in Sri Lanka, sub-Saharan Africa, Peru,Vietnam, Palestine,Haiti and the Balkans deliver meaningful results in:
· Education and Health: including basic and higher education, water and sanitation, and HIV/AIDS
· Sustainable livelihoods: including vocational training and agriculture/rural development
· Governance: including strengthening civil society, promoting human rights, and peace building.

Delivering Results Through Volunteers

International volunteer cooperation is one of our main tools for delivering development results. Through Uniterra, a joint program of WUSC and the Canadian Centre for International Studies (CECI), we are mobilizing more than 1000 volunteers from Canada and 13 developing countries to work to reduce poverty through innovative North/South partnerships. In addition,WUSC sends Canadian volunteers and civilian experts to Haiti and the Balkans to respond to specific needs in the sectors of postsecondary education, public administration, human rights and law.
