The Great One

Today in 1970, an unnamed social science councillor put forth a motion to have the Faculty of Social Science Students' Council abolished "on the grounds that it is an irrelevant and impracticable body."

FSSSC president Nancy Rivers and eight of the remaining 13 council members voted in favour of the motion. "The job was not worth any effort as it accomplished nothing," Rivers said of her position.

Other arguments put forth included social events losing money due to poor planning and the idea attendance and athletic events could be handled by the physical education department of the faculty.
