If you are interested in photography but don't have photojournalism experience, don't worry. The Gazette's photo editors are responsible not only for managing the department, but training new photographers in the arts of photography, printing and developing. If you haven't taken photos before, get the editors to help you find an assignment which doesn't have too much pressure; something that can be shot again if things go wrong. A lot of funny things happen on first assignments, but they're easily remedied.

A photographer can shoot for any department; all departments sked their required pics on the photo sked board. Each department has different photographic demands so it is best to discuss the assignment with a photo editor and the editor of the department for which you are shooting.
