Campaign fine watch

Fines, fines, everywhere fines...

The mighty hand of Sheriff Deans has been slapping presidential candidates with fines left and right.

Kevin Mol was given nine demerit points ($72) for packaging his campaign schedule in unauthorized CD cases for the campus media. He was also fined 10 demerit points ($80) for handing out unapproved cups and for disregarding the chief returning officer.

Five demerit points ($40) were given to Christina Gural for putting up a poster in Saugeen where it should not have been.

And Sean Martin was given 12 demerit points ($96) for an illegal display in Saugeen-Maitland hall.

As well, the elections committee appeals board rejected a request from Saj Butt to overturn his fines on Friday. Butt had been fined 15 demerit points for photocopying campaign literature at InPrint last week.
