Police blotter

Watch your wheels Western! There were a number of vehicles damaged this past weekend at the university.

On Friday, a black Honda and blue Ford Taurus were broken into and one stereo was taken. This came just one day after a Chevrolet Cavalier was stolen from the Springett lot.

Const. Wendy McGowan of the University Police Department said the number of vehicle thefts and damage has actually decreased over the past few years. In 1995, 62 vehicles were broken into and six were stolen. Those numbers went down to 19 thefts from vehicles and five stolen in 1996.

Other thefts over the weekend included a coat and wallet from The Wave and a washroom door from the University Community Centre on Sunday.
