Time warp

The Westminster College Students' Council was planning to investigate a wastebasket water fight which occurred one late Thursday in 1968.

The fight grew out of a "traditional birthday party dunking." Students threw water-filled wastepaper baskets in their rooms and continued the fracas in the halls and on the stairways. More than half of the 58 students in building four were said to have taken part in the demonstration.

"It was water, water everywhere throughout the four-storey men's wing of the residence which is owned and operated by the United Church," The Gazette stated.

Westminster bursar Neill Campbell said students would have to pay an estimated $60, give or take $10, which was about 20 per cent of the cost of the damages.
