Safety of students jeopardized

Re: Snow removal

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter in regards to snow removal at the university. I have the privilege to walk from Richmond St. down University Drive on to campus as do many Western students. Recently I have noticed the sidewalk in front of the student residences on the west side of University Drive hasn't been cleared. This makes the walk to the university quite unpleasant for everyone, especially myself since I am required to use crutches due to an injury I have received. I am not looking for special privileges – I just don't want to see anyone get hurt.

Before attending Western I had worked in the snow removal business and I know how hard and time consuming it is, but when you have the proper machinery to do the job there should be no excuses.

I'm not writing this to point fingers at anyone or get anybody in trouble, I just don't want to see any students get hurt.
