TIME WARP

The weapon used to hold up the campus security office was a fake, The Gazette reported on Jan. 24, 1984.

"We're not too worried about the gun... it was a fake gun," said Detective-Sergeant Jim Balmain of the London Police Department.

Shortly after 4 a.m. two days previously, a masked man entered the campus security office in the Stevenson-Lawson Building. Armed with what at first appeared to be a real handgun, the intruder struggled with two Western security officers.

The officers were both injured and tied up before the man left with an undisclosed amount of money.
