Retail Biz Club innocent

Re: Retail Biz Club messes up Fine Arts Festival Venue, March 5

To the Editor:

This letter is in response to a letter published in the March 5 edition of The Gazette. On Feb. 4, the Retail Business Club organized an open-microphone/coffee house (Cafe Western) to be held in Delaware Hall. Although this event was held during the Fine Arts Festival it was not one of the festival's events. In fact, the Fine Arts Festival had an event of its own (Battle of the Bands) being held at the same time.

Unfortunately, a last-minute decision was made to postpone the cafe until March. This decision was made because there was an insufficient audience. Admittedly, this was due to an internal communication breakdown and a lack of advertising. When this decision was made all performers who had shown up were given our sincerest apologies and told that we would be contacting them sometime in March to co-ordinate a new event.

On behalf of the Retail Business Club I would like to once again apologize to all the performers and to everyone else who had any part in the cafe and I would like to invite them back for our new date – March 21.

The cafe will once again be in Delaware Hall (Banquet Room) and will start at 8 p.m. The event is being co-ordinated by both the Students' Arts Council and the Retail Business Club. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in the various forms of art present on campus.
