Reports of the committees on school crests and the point system occupied the foreground at a student council meeting, The Gazette reported on this day in 1924.

The committee was investigating the possibility of awarding crests for participation in university activities other than athletics. They discovered other universities gave college crests for proficiency in dramatics and debating, as well as athletics and recommended this recognition be extended to include good work done filling offices of university organizations.

A preliminary draft of the report on the point system was also presented at the meeting. The maximum was 25 points with the goal to prevent "overloading the willing with too many offices."
