A group of 200 music students converged on a shocked university Senate to demand the re-appointment of two popular instructors, The Gazette reported on March 14, 1975.

Music's Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee voted unanimously to recommend re-appointments for the instructors but were overruled by the dean of music.

"The office of the president is disposed to let the deans do just about anything as long as they don't cause financial difficulties," one student said.

Western's president, D.C. Williams, assured the students an investigation was in progress but that it must remain "outside the glare of publicity," and he declined to give any details of its progress.
