An honest warning

Re: Crime on campus

To the Editor:
I would like to give thanks and a warning to students. Last Sunday, I was taking a nap as a study break in the UCC. When I woke up, I found my back pack had been stolen from beside me. There is a lot I could say about how horrible this was for me, but that is beside the point.

I would like to thank the person who returned my bag and to everyone else who has ever returned valuable items. Thank you for trying to keep the Western community a place where we can feel safe.

My warning is for all the trusting people out there. Unfortunately, you cannot assume everyone is honest and trustworthy. Keep an eye on your belongings. If you need a nap, have some kind of safeguard against the opportunity for others to take your valuables. (i.e. put the leg of the couch or chair through your back pack straps and keep your hand on your bag). Good luck and remember to look out for each other.
