Hoop it up for kids

Western's Save the Children club is holding their second annual three-on-three basketball tournament tomorrow at Althouse College from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.. The goal is to raise at least $200 for Save the Children-Canada, said co-vice president of the club, Evelyn Nassar.

Your cheque is in the mail!

Good news for students feeling a little tight financially – health plan opt-out cheques will be available early this year!

The cheques will be ready for pick-up on Monday Oct. 20 in the third floor lounge of the University Community Centre from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. The pick-up schedule runs from Oct. 20 to 24 and again on Oct. 27 to 31.

Health plan cards will also be available and to receive the card, students must bring their student identification. Those picking up cheques must bring student identification as well as the yellow opt-out form.

Directory deadline

Today is your last chance to change your address for the student directory.

Students can ensure the university has the correct address through computer terminals on campus, explained James Deans, VP-communications for the University Students' Council.

There are terminals in D.B. Weldon library, Somerville House, the Social Science Centre, Stevenson-Lawson Building and all residences except Essex Hall, Deans said.

The directories will be available by the end of this month or the beginning of the next, Deans added.

A very silent auction

Yesterday's "Buy the USC Auction" was cancelled due to the Board of Governors forums.

Organizer Sylvia Keszthelyi said the auction has been re-scheduled to Oct. 30 at noon in the atrium of the University Community Centre. All proceeds will go to the United Way.

Rock the vote

Alright voters, you now have the weekend to decide how to cast your ballot for Board of Governors and Senate positions on Oct. 21 and 22.

The following polling locations will be open from 10 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.:

D. B. Weldon Library University College

The Social Science Centre Brescia College

Natural Science Centre King's College

The following stations will be open from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.:
