Re: Sexual Assault Awareness Week

To the Editor:
We would like to express our disgust to the members of the Western community who ripped down our posters for Sexual Assault Awareness Week over the weekend.

Do you realize how much time and effort the members of the Women's Issues Network put into making those posters? Apparently, it doesn't matter to you at all. It also doesn't seem to matter that you ripped down important information that the Western community needs to know.

The posters stated "Think of the six closest women to you...now guess which one will be raped this year" and "60 per cent of Canadian college-aged males admitted they would sexually assault a woman if they knew they would not get caught." These were NOT made-up facts but statistics researched by members of WIN.

Wake up Western! Sexual assault happens every day to women everywhere! We just want people to be aware of these facts.
