Sunday's ninth annual Terry Fox Run was an opportunity for members of the Western community to raise funds for cancer research while getting some exercise. This year there were 273 registered participants on the five- kilometre route that stretched around campus, across the Thames river and downtown.
"The weather was fabulous!" said Meaghan Symsyk, USC VP-student affairs. She said more than $8,000 total was raised with funds still coming in.
A new attraction this year was the Wall of Hope where people could sign their name in memory of those who passed away as a result of cancer and in support of those presently fighting the disease. Symsyk added that the committee did a fabulous job organizing the event including lots of free food and corporate sponsorship.
CHRW's Splendors of the Catholic Church will be featuring a special program tonight and tomorrow at 7 p.m. highlighting the life and death of Mother Teresa.
Roger Khouri, host of the show, said he will have guest speakers who met or have worked with Mother Teresa, such as the Bishop Sherlock of London. The show will also feature clips of some of Mother Teresa's speeches, he said.
