DUI disgusting

Re: Drinking and driving

To the Editor:
I would like to express my disgust with the way the issue of drinking and driving was dealt with (or rather NOT dealt with) during Orientation Week this year. It would especially make sense to use the amazing forum that the O-Week staff were given to talk about how such a senseless act killed one of Western's own students less than a month ago. I believe that someone should have used this opportunity to hit home with 4,000 frosh that drinking and driving kills. Catherine Newton's death could have been the ultimate plea to stop drinking and driving. I hope that next year this topic will be given the same attention as equally well deserving issues such as Shinerama and the Terry Fox Run.
