A time and place

Re: Celebration of Israel disrupted, Jan.20

To the Editor:
I think the protestor who ruined the Israeli Independence Day celebration may have simply been jealous because there's no Palestinian Independence Day celebration in which he can participate. What's more, I think he was very insensitive, failing to take into account the fact that, unlike children in the West Bank, Gaza and Lebanon, Canadians like myself simply aren't accustomed to seeing bloodied Palestinians walking around. I've heard the argument that, in a democratic society like ours, everyone should be able to express his/her political views, but a university campus is simply not the proper place to do it.
