Western's debating society has done it again.
The team's duo of Rob Silver and Nathan MacDonald won the North American Debating Championships last weekend at McGill University in Montreal. When added to their previous winnings in the past year, Western's team is now the first team in Canadian history to hold the titles of North American, National and Central Canadian championships at one time, Silver said.
MacDonald and Silver competed against 96 other teams including Harvard, Yale and Princeton.
Silver added the society's "b-team" of Veer Gidwaney and Scott Thurlow placed fifth in the competition.
The applications for the University Students' Council Orientation staff positions are due by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 6, rather than Feb. 13 as reported in The Gazetteyesterday. The Gazette regrets the error.
