The Western men's basketball team limited the Brock Badgers to a mere five field goals in the first half of Saturday's match in St. Catharines, en route to a 71-58 Mustang victory. Jonathan Dingle led Western with 14 points, while Nat Graham and Chris Brown recorded 13 points each.
On Saturday, the Western men's squash team went a perfect 6-0 against Waterloo in the Ontario University Athletic squash team finals to claim the provincial championship. Meanwhile, the women's team placed a close second, losing 4-2 against Queen's.
Western's Erin Kennedy qualified first in the women's epée category at last Saturday's second West sectional fencing meet at Thames Hall. Patricia Nonato placed third in the sabre division as did Leslie Ritchie in the epée. The Mustang sabre and epée teams both qualified for the provincial finals to be held next weekend at Royal Military College in Kingston.
Western got two gold medal performances from Joon Kim in the foil category and Philip Kinnan won the epée at Saturday's second West sectional. The Mustang epée, sabre and foil teams all qualified for next weekend's provincial final at RMC.
The Mustang badminton team finished second at last Saturday's provincial final losing to Queen's 8-3. Western's Leo Chui and Mike Twiner won a silver medal in men's doubles, while Kevin Eng and Lindsay Holtz were co-winners of the gold medal in the mixed doubles.
