Re: Connection Conundrum, Feb.10 and Barred Access, Feb.12
To the Editor:
I find it quite interesting to be constantly reading in The Gazette about people who are having problems with the ITS dial-in service. On the contrary to what Mr. Nguyen and Mr. Tebbens have said about the dial-in service, I have enjoyed the use of such a service.
It's true that I don't live within any of the campus residences so I don't know what the situation is, but if you live off-campus like I have for all of my four years here in university, it may be a different story. For me, I usually have no problems logging on. Occasionally, I will get the odd "max users reached" and a busy signal but that is solved simply by re-typing in one's user name and password since one gets three cracks at it per call and a simple hit of the re-connect button respectively. I log on six to 10 times a night and usually have no problems whatsoever doing so. The only times that I have ever encountered such a problem is between 8 to 9 p.m..
So to all, it's not as bad as one thinks. Although I am not experiencing a more difficult time logging on, I do agree that constant yearly improvements should be made to the system to ensure the satisfaction of its paid customers, BUT to do this requires time and, most likely, more money and do I think the students will be willing to spend more money to this program? I think not, so say no more. Quote the Preacher, nevermore.
