A sincere apology

To the Editor:
I am coordinator of Employment Services and the person who developed the Internet Employment Café over the past two and a half years. You are quite correct, Karim, in your complaint about the promise of exclusive access for Western students and alumni which has not been fulfilled. A few other students have lodged the same complaint and I offer up my sincere apology for the length of time it is taking to implement the password system on the Internet Employment Café Web site. It was indeed slated for launch last September and then the date kept getting postponed a couple of weeks at a time until here we are into March 1998. I feel embarrassed and take full responsibility for the fact there were unforeseen approval processes which had to be met first.

However, the good news is that the password system should be rolled out this month and I can assure you we have one of the best technology-based employment services in the country. As a Western grad myself, I fully appreciate the need to develop a time and cost-efficient system of delivering job information exclusive to our own Western community of job seekers which is what I set out to do originally. Again, my sincere apology for the delay and if you have any other questions or concerns, please contact any of us in Employment Services, Rm. 210 UCC.
