Remembering the Holocaust

Western's Jewish Students' Union is asking faculty and students to attend a talk today about Switzerland's role in the Holocaust.

Associate director of the Canadian Jewish Congress, Dani Fine, will present "Nazi Gold" at noon today in the University Community Centre, Room 379.

Fine will talk about the Holocaust and property stolen from the Jewish people, explained Tamara Winn, intramurals chair for the JSU. She added the congress is one of the largest Jewish organizations in Canada.

"It is important for us not to forget what happened in the Holocaust and this is an important aspect of it that people are not familiar with it," said JSU political chair, Michael Gottlieb.

Talking jobs

Premier Mike Harris will be in town tomorrow to attend the Jobs and Prosperity conference.

The event will be held at the former Westin Hotel between Wellington and Waterloo, said Erin Rankin Nash, regional coordinator for southwestern Ontario for the premier's conference. Twelve Members of Provincial Parliament, including five cabinet ministers, will be attending tomorrow's conference, she added.

About 1,000 people are expected to attend on an invitation-only basis, Rankin Nash said. "We are trying to get people who don't normally get the ear of the premier."
