millions of bad feelings

The attack of the killer posts

Re: Campus hazards

To the Editor:
I would like to let the Western community know about what I consider a very serious safety hazard. The lampposts outside the Natural Sciences Building have completely rusted through at the base.

On Saturday night, I was waiting for the overly late London "We couldn't care less" transit system when I leaned up against a lamppost adjacent to the bus shelter. I had to catch it from falling over! After looking at all the lampposts outside the NS building, it was obvious that ALL these lampposts are rusted though. These are of course, the SAME lampposts so adeptly painted by the university just a few short weeks ago.

Far be it for me to advise on how to maintain buildings, but it seems to me that having a large freshly painted lamppost bludgeon undergraduate students to death, is not the way "to insure Western maintains the highest standards for its student population," as Western admin so fond of stating.

Maybe it would be a good idea to take some of that hard tuition money these kids are forced to hand over and fix (not just paint over) the infrastructure, so nobody gets seriously injured.
