Get the facts

Re: Protest the protest, Oct. 8

To the Editor:

This is in response to the comment by Erin Schroeder on O-week in Thursday's paper.

Are you NEW? O-week is not just partying and drinking. In fact, none of that was promoted during O-week at all. O-week was designed to make first-year students feel welcome and more comfortable during their first week at university. It promoted a sense of pride in the Western community.

Why are you so bitter about O-week? It's obvious that you don't have any facts about O-week at all. Maybe next time you decide to put down your school and something you know nothing about, you might think to get some valid facts.

It saddens me to think that you are ashamed to go to this school. A school that cares so much about each other. I would never be ashamed about something that means so much to so many people. Would you want to move into a new, strange place and then start school – I didn't think so.
