coughing up debt

Thank you

Re: Admin agrees to restore O-week, Oct. 16

To the Editor:

Thank you for restoring move-in day to Monday – its rightful place. When I read the article in The Gazette today (Oct. 16), I felt a sense of accomplishment and pride.

I feel the need to say thank you to those who made it happen. First off, I would like to thank President Paul Davenport and VP-academic Greg Moran, as well as the rest of the administration, for realizing how important a Monday move-in really is.

Secondly, I extend a huge thanks to Ian Armour and the USC Board of Directors for not backing down and being a vital part in our fight to save O-week. Thank you to all the Sophs, who kept the pride in their hearts.

But my greatest thanks goes out to all those students who supported the fight. To all of you who signed the petition, who protested during the Homecoming parade on the bridge, to all of you who chanted "Frosh Week Forever" at the Homecoming game – THANK YOU!!!

Next year, first-year students will experience a true Western O-week and they will remember it for the rest of their lives. These past few weeks have proven one thing – students can make a difference. And I implore you to keep fighting for the things you believe in.
