I can't believe it

Re: ACES will not fold, Oct. 22

To the Editor:

I've followed from afar what's happened to the group representing part-time and mature students at Western. While distant in miles, this is an issue close to my heart.

As someone who's worked for the continuing education students at Ryerson for more than a decade, I can attest to the need for service and representation for students who have unique challenges and interests within our university.

This body of part-time students share goals with their full-time counterparts. They too are seeking accessible, quality education. However, they need and deserve distinct status because of the particular challenges they face as students.

Shame on Western's full-time students for cutting a worthy service and advocacy group which is needed more than ever in the face of continued cuts to universities and rising tuition. I urge you to restore funding and space to your part-time campus group.
