Western's weekend wrap-up

Tom Baumgartner/Gazette

WHEN'S THIS DAMN THING GOING TO COME DOWN. Waterloo could have waited a lot longer as they got run over 4-1 by the powerful Mustangs.

Field Lacrosse

The Western squad finished the regular season on a high note over the weekend with two victories – against York 19-7 and Toronto 15-5.

In the York game, Western came out early and often, scoring eight unanswered points to silence the Yeomen. Jason Pitters scored six goals and added four assists in the romp.

At Toronto, Jason Jankowski led the way for Western with three goals in a fairly easy tune-up match for the playoffs.

Finishing with a 6-2 record, the team will travel to Guelph next weekend for the Ontario championships.

Field Lacrosse

The women travelled to Brock on the weekend and chalked up another two wins on the season. Both Laurier (12-4) and Brock (8-5) fell to the team's attack.

Women's Soccer

The team wrapped up the season in style with a pair of 1-0 victories over Laurier and Waterloo. The team finishes with a 10-1-1 record for first place in the Ontario West division.

Men's Soccer

Western split a pair of match-ups in the final weekend of the season. On Saturday the team fell 1-0 to first place Laurier before rebounding on Sunday 4-1 against the Waterloo Warriors.

Water Polo

At Carleton University, Western took two of three games in a cross-over round robin tournament. Western took care of Queen's 10-8 and Ottawa 13-7 but could not handle their host Carleton, who defeated the Mustangs 10-7. This brings the team's record on the season to 4-2 – good for second place.
