big money

A successful effort given by all

Re: Big win, too little too late, Oct. 20

To the Editor:

This letter is in reference to the article written entitled "Big win, too little too late," about the women's tennis team.

From a distant standpoint, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, as it reported the bare facts. But that, in essence, was the root of the problem.

The team worked extremely hard all season long and demonstrated a work ethic and dedication that should be admired and looked up to. Although falling just short of the playoffs this season, one player I know had nothing but positive feelings for the season. The teamwork, fun and effort put forth by all made her feel it was a truly valuable experience.

The article did not reflect upon any of that, especially when considering the title. It was not insulting by any means, but did not represent the TEAM in a deserving light. Perhaps they will be no. 1 next year, like our outstanding 1998 football team, perhaps not. But it should be noted that this season, off paper, like all others, was another winner.
