Night of action

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Take Back the Night, said Laura Kovacic, a public relations volunteer for Women for Action, Accountability and Against Violence Everywhere, the organization sponsoring the march.

The march, protesting violence against women, starts at 6:45 p.m. tomorrow at Doidge Park and ends in Victoria Park, with a series of scheduled speakers.

FIMS conference

Western's new faculty of Information and Media Studies will be introduced to the university when it hosts its first major conference on Oct. 2 and 3.

Conference coodinator Yuri Quintana said the intent is to share the research FIMS is doing and how it applies to the lives of individuals and society.

The speakers are all members of the faculty and an estimated 200 to 250 visitors from across North America will be present.

Current research such as privacy in the electronic age, technology on the web, new digital methods and online courses will be discussed.
