Porno degrades more than models

One of the great fallacies

One of the great fallacies

Re: Wrong alliance, Jan. 20

To the Editor:
I am writing in response to Dave Theobald's letter regarding Peter Collin's letter about prejudiced slurs. I found Dave's letter to be nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to rationalize his own disapproval of homosexuals while appearing politically correct. Whether or not homosexuals are born the way they are or not is really not the issue.

Discrimination should never be made on the basis of sexual orientation – period. For Dave to say that this form of discrimination is not as serious as racial discrimination is something I find disturbing. He could just as easily use the same argument to defend religious discrimination. Does he not find this just as upsetting as racial discrimination?

In spite of all of Dave's comments about fallacies being committed in the debate about the morality of homosexuality, I feel he commits the biggest one by letting his own homophobic views cloud the logic of his argument.
