Re: "Tanning reinforces stereotypes" Oct. 1

To the Editor:

We are writing in response to the letter"Tanning reinforces stereotypes." How can you associate tanning with the stereotype of "rich kids?"

It costs the same amount of money for a pack of cigarettes as it does for a 10 minute tan. Sure, they both cause cancer, hey, but isn't it your choice and your money?

It is like any other added service. Do you think it is snobby to have your hair cut or to make travel plans... hmmm... is that attracting negative attention to Western's image?

We think that your paragraph is a waste of space in The Gazette and come on, think about it – who doesn't want to be honey bronzed and very desirable all year long?
