Police report should have been dropped

To the Editor:

In the Sept. 21 issue of The Gazette, you report that officers from the University Police Department were dispatched to the Social Science Centre to deal with a disruption in the add/drop line on Sept. 17, 1999.

This report is inaccurate. No such incident occurred in the SSC on that day or any other day during the add/drop period. In fact, add/drop in Social Science proceeded smoothly this year.

I would like to thank all faculty, staff and students involved in the process for helping to ensure this outcome.

W.E. Hewitt
Associate Dean (Student Affairs)
Faculty of Social Science
