Re: VarsityBooks.com advertisement Jan. 1

To the Editor:

One of the tried and true axioms of life remains that if it seems too good to be true, it usually is.

So, when The Gazette ran a full page advertisement for VaristyBooks.com which promised to deliver text books in under three days for 40 per cent off, it seemed too good to be true. It was.

Always on the hunt for a bargain, I checked it out. The site is either very slow or very busy, as I found out after trying several times to log on.

When I finally connected, I found the prices were listed in US currency, but when calculating the exchange the prices were good to excellent. Unfortunately, it seems this American company does not service Canada as their order forms will not accept Canadian addresses.
