Fun facts about U.S. fraternities

Re: "Phraternities are phun phur all" Jan. 14

To the Editor:

Now that The Gazette's graphics editor has expressed what I feel is a prejudiced opinion about so called "Phraternities," I think it is time Western students were able to read some real facts about fraternities and form their own opinion.

Fact: Fraternity men make up only two per cent of the U.S. population.

Fact: Approximately 80 per cent of the top executives in Fortune 500 are fraternity men.

Fact: 71 per cent of men listed in Who's Who in America are fraternity men.

Fact: 76 per cent of the current U.S. senators and congressmen are fraternity men.

Fact: 40 of the 47 U.S. Supreme Court justices since 1910 have been fraternity men.

Fact: 100 of the 158 U.S. cabinet members since 1900 have been fraternity men.

Fact: Since 1825, all but three presidents of the United States have been fraternity men.
