Editors should be commended

Power to those kissing girls

USC has to start sweatin' it

USC has to start sweatin' it

To the Editor:

I wish to express my disgust and embarrassment with The Gazette and the rest of the University Students' Council for not taking a leading role in the fight against sweatshops and passing the proposed resolution for a code of conduct for Western in the purchasing practices of clothing (and other items) manufactured under slave-conditions.

We – the paper, the USC, the student body – have the chance to do something positive for both those directly affected by sweatshops and for the good health and conscience of this university. I abhor your unwillingness to take action immediately, yet am only a little surprised by the lethargic progress this administration is taking.

I do hope you can change your stance and get this resolution passed immediately, as it has nothing but the noblest of motives behind it. Please don't wait to see how the University of Toronto handles this, we are not their lapdog – or are we?
