Local mayoral candidates treated Western students to a few deep thoughts yesterday during the yesterday's civic election forum. Below is a sampling of some of the things that were said during the forum:
"A little boy approaches his mother and says, 'Mommy, do all fairy tales start with once upon a time?' 'No,' says the mother. Some begin with 'If I am elected.'"
"If the people of London aren't happy with my performance, they can fire me."
"I'm not a politician, I'm just a working man who can't get a job in London."
"We are appreciative of the money university students spend in London."
"Some politicians call a spade a shovel. I call a spade a spade."
"This is the first time I've taken an interest in the community."
"I don't really go to church. If I had any religion it'd be going outside and walking."
"I have a strong sense of love for my fellow man."
"There should be no one under 18-years-old looking at porn."
"I like kids because I was a kid once myself."
"On a personal note, a friend of mine has told me the coverage on television is very biased."
