Re: "New Free Press? Same old shit," Oct. 12

To the Editor:

Condoms, breasts and shit. What do these three things have in common? They've all appeared on the cover of The Gazette.

Perhaps all excusable, considering the newspaper's audience of students. So considering the casual tone and amateur nature of this school newspaper, how exactly have the editors acquired the right to mock The London Free Press?

A simple editorial criticizing the ironic problems with the Free Press' new printing machine would have been enough. Instead, we are treated to a front page article that seems to take unusual pleasure in the mistakes of others, not to mention unprofessional vulgarity of the headline.

Joel Brown, the author, suggests the Free Press may want to "throw a few more dollars at its editing department." At the risk of sounding petty, I'd make the same suggestion to The Gazette.

For example, in the "Disc of the Week" article on page five, two errors snuck their way past the snickering Gazette editors – "Gimmie All You're Lovin' Or I Will Kill You." Check out Macy Gray's homepage to pick out the less obvious mistake.

Maybe Aaron Wherry shouldn't be so swift to offer the Free Press his services.
