Darth Chretien?

He doesn't wear a black mask, but Prime Minister Jean Chretien may be the Darth Vader of our nation.

Much like the young Anakin Skywalker, Chrétien had his own "Obi-Wan Kenobi" in former Liberal Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. However, some argue Chrétien has fallen to the dark side of the force – he is light years from having the vision and passion of his former mentor.

Meanwhile, the Liberal MPs seem to play the role of storm troopers – loyal, subservient and relative clones of one another.

It remains unclear as to whether former finance minister and leadership candidate Paul Martin will become the Luke Skywalker of Canadian politics and lead the rebels against Chretien's empire. One can only hope he does not discover that Darth Chrétien is his father. Crazy time travel.
