The Mountain

I am discovering a mountain top and a valley all around it, finding every inch of its rugged skin, exploring its every cicatrice, dug deep within...where the scarification marks meet is where the scars become one, as if they arose from the centre top of the hill, pussing out like a pinched pimple, out like the sun's rays on a child's drawing, out like the long, thin petals of a bent back flower, stretching...stretching, I feel the blood flowing faster, as if vaselined veins had ventured past while my eyes were closed...closed to catch the crackling of the frame, vividly visualizing each bone coming into place, each joint unstuck, leaving the blood rushing through...the blood rushing out of my scab is dripping on the clayed forest floor, the clay that catches the children, that clutches onto the roots, closing its hands upon them, the hands that were pierced by the shovel, bleeding life upstream, bubbling higher, to the tips of the trees..
