Purple Pipe: Nathan Weiss

The mystical "Purple Pipe," an unexpected piece of athletic glory, goes to an unexpected athlete this week.

The Mustangs Athlete of the Week is none other than backup quarterback and converted punter Nathan Weiss.

Weiss was given the unenviable task of replacing punter Rob Pikula, who broke his leg on a broken play in the game against Windsor on Monday, Sept. 2. Not only did he replace Pikula, he booted seven balls 291 yards for an average of 41.5 yards/punt against the York Yeomen last Saturday.

Amazingly, Weiss is leading Ontario University Athletics in punting with a 45.8 yard average.

Vital Stats:

7 punts
291 punting yards
41.5 yard average (longest 68 yards)
1 single
