Paying the bills

To the Editor:

I opened The Gazette on Thursday, Sept. 12 to find a full-page advertisement for The Solid Gold strip club on the second page.

At first, I was insulted and outraged, but now I am just saddened that our student newspaper finds it necessary to earn advertising revenue from such sources. It seems like The Gazette hit the lowest common denominator, in which it became no longer important to maintain integrity, but only to pay the bills.

I believe that over half of the student body this year is female and I would assume that the majority of women would either not be interested in or offended by such ads. Here we are trying to get an education and The Gazette is telling us to head to "wet T-shirt contests" and "fun with a sponge night." Please find advertising revenue from other sources.
