CD REVIEW: Daniel Bedingfield
Gotta Get Thru This
Twenty-two year old Daniel Bedingfield showcases his questionable talents on his debut CD
Gotta Get Thru This. The CD incorporates Brit-pop alongside hints of R&B and dance beats, producing a typical sample of today's teen pop music.
Key tracks: Bedingfield introduced himself with "Gotta Get Thru This," a song that is repetitive, but exerts a unique sense of energy. The CD also includes an acoustic version of the title track in which Bedingfield attempts to reclaim his masculine identity. Unfortunately, tracks like "He Don't Love You Like I Love You" and "Girlfriend" are better suited for the listening enjoyment of 12-year-old girls.
Sounds like: Although his single suggested promise, the remaining tracks on
Gotta Get Thru This fail to reach the same calibre. Between his sappy lyrics and moaning, Bedingfield manages to parallel the likes of the Backstreet Boys. Once the novelty of the single wears off, this CD will be headed for the trash.
