CD REVIEW: Ozzfest Live 2002

Various Artists
Ozzfest Live 2002
Columbia Records

Rundown: Did you kick yourself in the ass because you had to miss Ozzfest this summer? Well, listen to Ozzfest Live 2002 and you will feel a whole lot better. Given the paltry lineup of this year's Ozzfest, there wasn't much to work with anyway, but it seems as though the worst of the worst was chosen for this live compilation CD.

Key Tracks: The first track on Ozzfest Live 2002 is Ozzy Osbourne's "War Pigs," featuring Ozzy's incoherent, drugged-out yelling, backed by repetitive guitar work. System of a Down's "Needles" was a poor choice for the live CD, as the song does nothing to showcase the band's incredible talent. As for the Andrew W.K. track featuring Kelly Osbourne – well, let's not even go there.

Sounds Like: A long, largely unvaried compilation that doesn't live up to the festival's potential. If you went to Ozzfest, this CD probably won't bring back glorious memories – and if you didn't go, the CD alone won't make you wish you had.
