Balancing people's views

Re: "Israel and Iraq on activist agenda," Feb.10

To the Editor:

I would like to express concern over the article in yesterday's Gazette entitled "Israel and Iraq on activist agenda." While the article implies popular support for the Sunday night lecture by Jaggi Singh and Leila Khaled Mouammar by stating that "several hundred people crowded into the King's College lecture theatre," it fails to indicate that about half of those people were concerned Jewish students who came to counter the one-sided views being presented.

The evening ended with a peaceful and civil debate between the speakers and the Jewish students, who had many questions about the side of the Arab-Israeli conflict that was not addressed during the speeches.

Despite some objections to the Jewish students' "right" to be there, the evening was a success, as it demonstrated a peaceful means of approaching this issue.
