CD REVIEW: Carbon

Carbon
Elements
Independent

Rundown: According to www.carbonrock.com, this four-piece rock band from Kitchener-Waterloo will "get you hot with original music." This 10-song EP is available online and at Carbon shows.

Key Tracks: "Tantric Steps," "What She Said" and "Admirer" are soulful explorations of heartfelt lyrics, accompanied by piano and acoustic guitar. Notable rock tracks include "Liar" and "Keys." However, other tracks, such as "Telephone," are unremarkable and tarnish an otherwise solid effort.

Sounds Like: Carbon has a distinctly Canadian indie sound, and lead singer Mark Carbon never crosses the line into jock-rock mediocrity.
