Girls can fight for us

Re: "In the army," Jan. 30

To the Editor:

Before criticizing a person or institution, please make sure you have all the facts. I am one of the many girls who wanted to and did join the military. And, in my basic training, the number of women and men was very much alike.

Many girls have abandoned the idea that the military and police are institutions that only men should be part of, and have realized that being a part of these groups makes us stronger, not only as citizens, but also as women. It saddens me that, after all our ancestors went through to give women the rights we now have, there are still people who think this way.
